Missing mum Tina Greer likely ‘stalked’ by violent bikie ex-partner before 2012 disappearance, inquest told

An inquest into the disappearance and suspected murder of a mum in 2012 has been told of the shocking acts of her violent bikie ex before she vanished.

A missing woman believed to be murdered by her notorious bikie ex-boyfriend more than a decade ago was likely stalked by the man in her final days, a court has been told.

Tina Greer was last seen by her family at a Beechmont Rd home on January 18, 2012, intending to travel to the rural town of Clumber, in Queensland’s Scenic Rim region.

She was intending to visit her abusive then boyfriend Les “Grumpy” Sharman – a long-term member of the notorious Finks bikie gang.

Ms Greer’s body has never been found despite multiple searches of remote sections of the surrounding national park.

Sharman was considered a suspect in Ms Greer’s disappearance and murder but was never interviewed by police, nor formally charged.

He died in 2018 in a car crash.

An inquest into Ms Greer’s disappearance and suspected death has been listed in Brisbane, with the adequacy of the subsequent police missing person investigations set to be put under the microscope.

During Thursday’s pre-inquest conference, the court was told it was “very likely” Sharman was stalking Ms Greer outside her home in the days leading up to her disappearance.

Sheridan Spencer, acting for Ms Greer’s adult daughter Lili, asked for further evidence to be put before the inquest to determine the exact circumstances of Ms Greer’s death.

This included a request for Sharman’s legal professional privilege to be waived.

Stephanie Williams, counsel assisting the coroner, said it was a “fishing expedition”, as Sharman was dead and therefore could not formally waive this privilege.

“There are several references throughout the brief of evidence Mr Sharman sought (legal) advice … at the time of, or around, and after Ms Greer disappeared,” Ms Spencer said in reply.

She noted Sharman expressing a fear he would be charged and police would “make an example” of him because of his bikie connections.

“We can’t compel him to give evidence as to his involvement and whereabouts leading up to, and following, her disappearance,” Ms Spencer said.

Coroner Kerrie O’Callaghan did not grant this submission, with the court being told it could be subject to cross-examination during the inquest.

She said the issue could also be raised at a future pre-inquest conference in September.

Ms Greer was driving her 2003 maroon Holden Commodore sedan with Queensland registration 067-MDE at the time she disappeared.

The car was found on January 21, 2012, at the end of a dirt road near Governor’s Chair Lookout on January 21, 2012.

In 2020, police offered a $250,000 reward for information regarding Ms Greer’s suspected homicide.

During Thursday’s pre-inquest conference, the court was told Sharman was likely “stalking” Ms Greer around the time she disappeared.

Lili Greer was in attendance over video link.

Ms Spencer said Sharman’s movements captured on CCTV were relevant to the coronial inquest, as they would form a part of the adequacy of police’s investigation into Ms Greer’s disappearance.

On Thursday, the court was told Ms Greer suffered domestic violence at the hands of Sharman and this would not be contested at the inquest.

The inquest itself will examine the adequacy of the police investigation into Ms Greer’s disappearance and their response to her disclosures of domestic and family violence.

It will also examine the response from the Salvation Army Gold Coast Recovery Services.
