A hearing date has been set in the case of a mother accused of making her kids take medication to keep them bedridden before murdering them.
A date for a lengthy committal hearing has been set in the case of a Gold Coast mum accused of murdering her two children in a grim plot to claim insurance payouts.
Maree Mavis Crabtree did not appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday when her case was briefly mentioned in the late afternoon.
Ms Crabtree, who is in her 50s, was arrested in January 2018 over the alleged murders of her children Jonathan, 26, and Erin Crabtree, 18.
She is facing a raft of charges, including murder, fraud, attempted fraud, obtaining financial benefit by deception and torture.
A date of March 15 next year was set for the beginning of Ms Crabtree’s committal hearing. It is expected to run until April 1.
Brisbane Magistrates Court was told some witnesses would need to give evidence over audio visual link.
When she was first charged, police alleged Ms Crabtree murdered her two children, who both had disabilities, on separate dates in 2012 and 2017.
It is further alleged she forced the children to take prescription medication to keep them bedridden to claim disability payouts before murdering them and staging the deaths as suicide to claim more payouts.
