CCTV captures brazen attempted robbery as man pushes boy, chases friend down street

Wild CCTV has captured the moment a man tries to steal a bike from a 14-year-old, pushing him off the vehicle before chasing his friend down the street.

Wild CCTV footage has captured an alleged brazen attempted robbery in broad daylight, with a man seen pushing a child from his bike and chasing another down the street.

Queensland police have released footage of the man, is allegedly seen fighting with the group of school students in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast earlier this month.

One of the boys, 14, was with his friends on the footpath of the Gold Coast Highway near Gardenia Grove about 4pm on Tuesday when he was accosted by an unknown man.

The footage, released by Queensland Police on Friday, shows the man walking on the footpath before allegedly pushing the teenage boy off of the bike and attempting to steal it.

The teen is seen bravely fighting back against the would-be thief by holding onto his bike and refusing to let go.

One of his friends then kicks the man twice and runs off.

The man is seen allegedly chasing after the friend, but was unable to catch him after he leapt a fence into neighbouring property.

The man is believed to have left sometime later in a silver sedan, and is described as having a tanned complexion, 185cm tall, and medium build, wearing a black singlet and black shorts.

Police have since launched an investigation into the brazen attack, which left the 14-year-old with bruising to his right eye.

Officers are now urging anyone who recognises the man or who might have more information to contact police.
