Brisbane Uber driver attacked

AN Uber driver has been attacked with a machete in Brisbane’s north west, and has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

AN Uber driver has been attacked with a machete in Brisbane’s north west early this morning.

It will be alleged the woman was picked up by a driver of a ride-sharing service at an address in Colberg St Zillmere.

When the driver, a 37-year-old Runcorn man, realised the woman in the vehicle was not his fare, she allegedly produced a machete and attempted to steal the vehicle while they were parked in Fairhaven St in Bridgeman Downs.

Upon police arrival, they located the pair near the vehicle and the man with a laceration to his head.

He was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening head injuries.

A 17-year-old Torquay woman has been charged with attempted robbery with violence and assault occasioning bodily harm.

She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
