Prime Minister Scott Morrison is monitoring for Covid-19 symptoms after a positive case attended Kirribilli House, Sky News reports.

The Prime Minister has been advised by NSW Health that the person attended his Wednesday press conference in Sydney while potentially infectious, the broadcaster reported on Saturday night.

Under new close contact rules which came into effect on Friday, Mr Morrison is spared from having to isolate.

“Kirribilli House residents and staff members are acting in accordance with the instructions from NSW Health,” a spokesperson for the PM told Sky News.

“As per the NSW Health guidelines, the Prime Minister was not required to isolate or get tested and will monitor for symptoms.”

NSW Health has determined there is no need to close Kirribilli House or contact others who attended, according to the report.

News.com.au has approached the Prime Minister’s office for comment.

NSW recorded 22,577 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday.

There are currently 901 people admitted to hospital, with 79 in intensive care.

Nearly 94 per cent of over-16s in the state are now fully vaccinated.
