Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s wife Jenny made stunning gesture

The father of three children killed by a drunk-driver has revealed the “humbling” offer Scott Morrison’s wife Jenny made to his family.

Father of Oatlands crash victims says his focus was 'never on the sentencing'

The father of three children tragically killed by a drunk-driver in Western Sydney has revealed Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s wife, Jenny, offered to sleep over at their house to make his wife feel safe after they were burgled.

Danny Abdallah lost his three children Antony, 13, Angelina, 12, and Sienna Abdallah, 8, and his niece Veronique Sakr, 11, when all four children were hit by a drunk-driver in February 2020 while walking to get ice cream near the Oatlands Golf Club.

The driver, Samuel Davidson, 31, was recently sentenced to a minimum of 21 years in prison after being found guilty of dangerous driving with a cocktail of drugs and alcohol in his system. He will not be eligible for parole until 2041.

During an interview with Mark Bouris for his Straight Talk podcast on Wednesday, Mr Abdallah revealed he had received a phone call from Scott Morrison following the sentencing on April 9, 2021.

“I walked out of court and he was the first person to call me,” Mr Abdallah said.

“He said ‘Danny, nothing will ever replace your kids’. But it was the biggest manslaughter sentence, 28 years, that they’ve ever given out. He goes ‘but this sentencing was a good sentencing’.”

Mr Abdallah said the Prime Minister and his wife, Jenny, had been “outstanding” in behind-the-scenes support of the family.

After the funeral for the four young children in February 2020, Jenny Morrison invited Mr Abdallah and his wife Leila to their home.

She also offered to sleep over at the Abdallah house to provide comfort after their family home was broken into just months after the deaths of their children.

“Jen rings Leila and says: ‘Listen, I’m going to come and stay over at your place tonight just so you can feel safe’,” Mr Abdallah said.

“How humbling is that to see the Prime Minister’s wife reach out.”

Mr Abdallah also told the podcast he’d received a text from Mr Morrison, who keeps a photo of the slain children in his office, on the first Father’s Day after they died.

“Daniel, I’m thinking of you today on Father’s Day”, the text read.

The Abdallahs, who welcomed baby girl Selina to their family in March, said they were so grateful for the support they received from leaders.

Mr Abdallah also noted former NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian attended the funeral for the four children and the one-year mass for all four children and called her a “beautiful lady” who was “very supportive and very loving”.
