Pauline Hanson meets with Malcolm Turnbull

PAULINE Hanson says she has the respect of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and is now welcome in Canberra after a meeting on Monday.

PAULINE Hanson says she has the respect of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and is now welcome in Canberra.

The One Nation leader, who will take up one of Queensland’s Senate spots, says she met with Mr Turnbull in Sydney on Monday where she laid out some of her policies.

In a video posted to Facebook, Ms Hanson says she was given a good hearing and thanked Mr Turnbull for showing respect.

She also says the prime minister offered her access to ministers and their staff for information to help her “make the right decisions” on behalf of her supporters.

Ms Hanson said she refrained from confronting him on his pre-election jibe that she was “not a welcome presence in the Australian political scene”.

“You’re probably wondering did I say to him, `you’re the man who said I wasn’t welcome there’. The answer is no,” Hanson said.

“I did most of the talking and I raised the issues with him about the motorsport precinct at Townsville ... dredging in Cairns ... tourism, creating jobs, my apprenticeship scheme ... and the family law court.

“It was quite interesting and he was very gracious and open with congratulations on my win, which I appreciated.”

The video does not indicate whether Ms Hanson brought up some of her more controversial policies, like her call for a royal commission into Islam.

She said Mr Turnbull was attentive and “interested in my opinion”.

“I feel now I have been listened to and my position as Senator is respected.”
