Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese hospitalised after car crash
Federal Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has been taken to hospital after a 17yo driver “T-boned” his car in the Sydney suburb of Marrickville.
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has been involved in a serious car accident in the Sydney suburb of Marrickville.
He was taken to hospital and is “shaken” but okay, according to his office.
NSW Police said in a statement that emergency services were called just before 5pm Friday after reports a black Range Rover and had collided with a dark grey Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Range Rover, a 17-year-old male from Beverley Hills, has been issued an infringement notice for negligent driving.
Mr Albanese, 57, was treated at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
A TV image after the accident showed a car looking like a write-off, but the Opposition Leader standing up and seemingly not too bad.
Channel 7 reported that the Labor leader’s car was “T-boned”, according to a witness, and that the other driver was also in a reasonable condition without major injuries.
Mr Albanese was reportedly undergoing X-rays at the hospital in Camperdown.
The 57-year-old is the Federal Member for Grayndler, which covers Marrickville.
