Anti-vaxxers at Parliament House protest turn on one-another

A video filmed at today’s anti-vax rally in Canberra shows a group turning on one of their own and accusing him of being an actor.

Anti-vaxxers at Parliament House protest turn on one-another

Anti-vaxxers have turned on each other in Canberra where a protester was accused of being “an insider” and “a plant”.

In bizarre scenes that unfolded on Tuesday at an anti-vaccination protest outside Parliament House, a female protester asked a male protester to leave. Footage of the incident was shared on social media.

“You are making protesters walk away, so quiet, please,” the woman said. “I really appreciate what you’re doing, but you’re losing the crowd.”

He refused to go, responding: “You’re being divisive, I’m speaking truth.”

The woman told him others at the protest were leaving “because of you”.

“They just said to me that you’re antagonising them,” the female protester says in the video.

“I will go where I please and speak truth. Otherwise you’re just the same as (police),” the male protester responds.

That’s when she accuses him of being an actor.

“You’re an insider that isn’t a good one. That’s your job,” she says. “That’s how we pick you out because you sit here and disrupt what we’re doing peacefully.”

It comes as hundreds of anti-vaccine protesters chanted “no more boosters” and “we will not comply” ahead of the Prime Minister’s address to the National Press Club.

Amid the drama, Mr Morrison was ushered in the back entrance of the building as many questioned if the event would even go ahead.

While many of the nation’s most senior politicians and journalists were inside the building for the address, protesters outside streamed audio of the event to the crowd.

One protester provided running commentary after each sentence, which was met with cheers from the group.

But as the speech continued, the verbal abuse from protesters to journalists stationed outside the building intensified.

“Shame on you,” they screamed.

On Twitter, ABC host and National Press Club president Laura Tingle brushed off the scene as just “another day at the office”.

One woman was believed to be frantically organising a second party to move around the back to surround the building, meeting opposition from the Australian Federal Police.

The protesters are part of the “Convoy to Canberra”, which was inspired by a similar move in Canada which encourages people who are anti-vaccine and anti-vaccine mandate to make their voices heard.

More than 200 cars, trucks and vans were parked overnight within the Parliamentary Triangle, with reports more demonstrators were making their way to Canberra to join the ongoing protest.

An attendee at the Parliament House protest on Monday said there were “multi-layered” reasons people were there.

“You serve us, you serve us,” they chanted while surrounding a police car that was forced to retreat.

In other instances, they yelled “sack them all” and “shame”.

The AFP had closed off all entrance points to Parliament House on Tuesday with only pass holders able to drive through.
