Police hunting sex predator have released CCTV images of three people they want to identify
A POLISH au pair was subjected to “a very horrific” sexual attack, police have revealed. But there are a few big clues that might help find her attacker.
A POLISH au pair who was just one month into her stay in Australia was subjected to “a very horrific” sexual attack, police have revealed.
The 24-year-old was savagely beaten about the face, suffering serious injuries including a broken nose in the attack while she was out for a walk in Petrie, Moreton Bay, Queensland.
The injuries were so severe she needed surgery.
The attack happened on November 25 but police have only just revealed she was sexually assaulted as they renew their appeal for information to catch the sex predator responsible.
A key piece of evidence is a distinctive belt buckle with a Star of David in the middle which was found at the scene. Forensic tests on the belt are ongoing.
Police have also been closely studying CCTV footage of the area and have ruled out all but three people captured by security cameras in the area. They want them to come forward to rule them out of the inquiry.
“The main interest at the moment is those three persons,” Detective Senior Constable Clinton Olsson told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’re saying they’re persons of interest, not suspects, but we need to rule them out of any involvement.”
Details of the sexual element to the attack had been kept secret until now to protect the victim.
“It was of a sexual nature and it was a serious category of that. It was a very horrific attack ... it does appear to be a completely random attack,” Det Olsson said.
The footage released on Tuesday shows a man riding a bike alongside a brown and white dog. In other images a motorcyclist and a woman wearing a black top and carrying a black bag can be seen.
Det Olsson refused to say if the attack was recorded by the cameras. It was the only assault of its nature in the area at the time.
The victim returned to Poland to live before Christmas and is understood to be recovering well from her ordeal.
