Police believe the key to finding missing Tasmanian teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell lies in identifying three vehicles caught on CCTV.

The 14-year-old was last seen about 8.30pm on Sunday, April 30, near the North Esk River on Henry St in Launceston.

Tasmanian Police have released stills of three cars, taken from CCTV footage around Henry St, that were seen travelling towards Launceston at about 9pm on April 30.

“It is possible the driver and any occupants in these vehicles may have seen something that can assist police with the ongoing investigation into Shyanne-Lee’s disappearance,” Tasmania Police Inspector Craig Fox said.

“I urge the drivers of these vehicles to come forward, they may have a valuable piece of information that could assist us to locate Shyanne-Lee or track her movements.”

Anyone with information about the vehicles is urged to contact Launceston CIB on 131 444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers.

The update comes almost a week after police paused the “extensive” two-and-a-half week search for the 14-year-old in the North Esk River, after finding “no sign” of the teenager.

The large-scale search has involved extensive investigations on both sides of the river and on the surrounding private property.

Although police stopped searching for Shyanne-Lee, Inspector Fox said at the time “the investigation remains active and inquiries are continuing.”

Police said they were continuing to forensically test items of interest that were found in the search for the teenager, who has made no contact since she was reported missing, despite desperate public appeals.

Inspector Fox said police had “serious concerns for her welfare” but did not suspect foul play and are in close contact with Shyanne-Lee’s family.

“I’m confident she’s alive until we can prove otherwise,” he said.

“Everyone wants us to find Shyanne alive. We’re practical, we know that the longer this goes on, those chances are getting slimmer and slimmer.”

CCTV footage captured the teenager running in Launceston before her disappearance but there was no evidence of her being chased, Inspector Fox said.

Police believe Shyanne-Lee was wearing a cream coloured hoodie with dark script on the chest and shoulders and bike shorts at the time of her disappearance.

She is described as being about 160cm tall, with a slim build and blonde hair.

Police continue to urge anyone with information about Shyanne-Lee’s disappearance to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
