The two young women who were killed on their way home from a couple’s weekend have been identified.

Charlie Quinn, 18, Brooke Sorlie, 20 and Aaron French, 20, all died on Sunday when the car they were in ran off the road and flipped at the intersection of Bungendore and Collector roads at Tarago, NSW.

The driver, Lachlan Stuckey, 21, lost control of the Hyundai i35 but was able to climb free of the wreckage without assistance.

He suffered fractures to his spine and is currently under police guard in hospital. No charges have been laid.

The group, who were all from Nowra, had been on a couple’s weekend to Canberra and were on their way home.

Mr Stuckey’s girlfriend was Ms Quinn while Ms Sorlie and Mr French were also a couple.

Ms Quinn’s devastated father told The Daily Telegraph that she was the “light of our lives”.

“We are heartbroken and sending our love to all the families involved in this absolute tragedy,” he said.

“Charlie was the light of our lives.”

Ms Sorlie’s friends and family were also reeling from the news, saying that she always had “a smile on her face” and had just got a new horse called “Falcon”.

One of the first responders told the Daily Mail she arrived at the scene and began performing CPR.

“The boy and the girl were already out of the car by the time police were on the scene,” the woman said.

“We were trying to do CPR on them, but it just wouldn’t work. It was awful.”

The responder said the driver was screaming for others to help his girlfriend who was trapped in the car.

“I can still hear his screams,” she recalled.

Paramedics raced to the scene after being called at around 1pm but it was too late for the three passengers.

NSW Police are conducting an investigation into the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Hume Police District Commander Superintendent Linda Bradbury told the Goulburn Post the scene was “horrific”.
