‘Two million hours’: New feature shows Sydney motorists how much time toll roads really save
A new travel time savings feature will provide Sydney motorists with how much they’re spending in relation to time saved using tolled roads.
Sydney motorists have saved a cumulative 2 million hours this month by using Sydney toll roads this month according to Transurban owned e-Tag brand, Linkt.
The figures were released off the back of the launch of their new travel time savings feature on the Linkt app, providing customers with how much they’re spending in relation to time saved using tolled routes.
Analysing anonymised data across 800,000 Linkt customers, 82 per cent saved at least 20 minutes on travel time this month, with 51 per cent saving at least 60 minutes.
CEO at Transurban Michelle Jablko touted the new feature as a huge value proposition for Linkt customers.
“This new feature on our mobile app helps our Sydney customers understand how our toll roads can positively impact their daily lives,” she said.
“Based on their toll trips from the previous month, the app shows how much time they get back that otherwise would have been spent sitting in traffic.”
The progressive opening of WestConnex, a Transurban operated toll road, has seen a 58 per cent improvement in travel times from Parramatta to the Domestic Airport during morning peaks.
The NSW government’s introduction of a $60 toll cap last year has seen over $75 million paid to motorists, with $140 million still waiting to be claimed. But with the scheme set to expire on at the end of this year, this new feature may be increasingly handy for Sydney motorists trying to balance their money and time.
