Teenage boy found dead after going missing on river

A teen’s body has been found after he went missing while swimming on a river in northwest Sydney.

A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager who disappeared while swimming on a river in Sydney’s northwest on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old boy went missing at about 12pm on Wednesday while in the water at Windsor Beach on the Hawkesbury River.

A body, believed to be the boy’s, was discovered around 4.20pm, NSW Police said.

“The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the missing boy,” a police spokesperson said.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”

Specialists from PolAir, police divers, the NSW SES and the Toll NSW Ambulance Aeromedical service were involved in the search.
