Local police have told the community they are searching for a pair of boardies and a black surf shirt.

On Monday afternoon, police were focused on a beach at North Seven Mile Beach using drones to scan the area.

“The coordinated multi-agency search for a missing 45-year-old man at Broken Head on the Far North Coast has been suspended,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“While the multi-agency coordinated search has been suspended, taskings by local police and Marine Area Command will continue in the area over coming days.

“Police wish to thank those who volunteered in the search for the missing man and the local community for their support.”

Mr Notaro’s loved ones have also refused to give up hope, with friends and family out searching over the weekend.

“Our search has not ended,” Mr Notaro’s mum Deb wrote on social media on Saturday.

“Back to Byron today, we will bring my boy home. We need as many eyes as possible.

“Your Mama loves you sooooo much.”

The search was called off on Friday, with rough weather conditions hindering the effort throughout the week.

Mr Notaro was reported missing on Tuesday after his surfboard – with the leg rope attached – was found on the sand at Broken Head Beach.

His car was parked about 500 metres away at the carpark.

Byron deputy mayor Jack Dods told news.com.au that those involved in the search and rescue efforts had been “incredible.”

“As always, my thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected,” he said.

“I also want to commend and thank everyone involved in the incredible search and rescue efforts so far. We are all hoping and praying that Mr Notaro is found safe, and as quickly as possible”

Mr Notaro was surfing friends with star Chris Hemsworth, who assisted police with the search last week.
