Search resumes for man swept from rocks while fishing at popular blowhole

Emergency crews have resumed the search for a fisherman who was swept from the rocks while fishing at a popular NSW blowhole.

A search has resumed for a fisherman who was swept from rocks while fishing at a popular blowhole on the NSW south coast.

Emergency services were called to the Kiama blowhole just after 6.45pm on Tuesday after reports a man had failed to resurface while in the water.

Police were told the man – believed to be in his 70s – had been fishing by the water before he was swept off the rocks.

Police, Marine Area Command, Kiama Surf Life Savers and a NSW Ambulance helicopter searched the area to no success.

It was suspended at 9:30pm.

A NSW Police spokesman said the search resumed at first light on Wednesday, with additional assistance from police divers and Polair.
