SafeWork NSW investigate man’s death at Lucas Heights recycling facility
A report will be prepared for the coroner after a man died at a major recycling facility.
A 31-year-old man has died while at a recycling facility in Sydney’s south.
Emergency services were called to the Cleanaway recycling facility on Little Forest Rd, Lucas Heights, about 12pm on Tuesday.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to treat the man but he died at the scene.
Police attached to Sutherland Police Area Command were also called to the facility.
The incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The landfill facility has listed on its website that it will be “closed until further notice”.
A Cleanaway spokesman told NewsWire the company will “work together with the relevant authorities”.
“At this time, our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by this tragic event,” he said.
“As this incident is currently under investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
A spokesperson for SafeWork NSW said the watchdog was making inquiries into the incident at Lucas Heights.
“Inquiries are continuing. No further comment is available at this time.”
