Pregnant woman tested positive for covid after Caesarean at Liverpool Hospital

A pregnant woman has tested positive for covid after having a caeserean at one of Sydney’s busiest hospitals.

A pregnant woman has tested positive for covid after undergoing a caesarean section at Liverpool Hospital.

The woman visited the hospital, one of Sydney’s busiest, for the procedure, visiting many areas and spending most of the day there.

All non-urgent surgery has been delayed and deep cleaning of the operating theatres is underway.

Contact tracers have already interviewed the woman and some close contacts have been identified, tested and isolating.

The woman’s positive result will be included in Thursday’s case numbers.

NSW recorded 97 new local Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday, with at least 31 of them circulating in the community during part of all of their infectious period.
