‘Kick in the balls’: Peter Dutton’s brutal sledge about Anthony Albanese’s $4m ‘retirement home’

Peter Dutton has mocked the PM’s decision to snap up a $4 million clifftop mansion with a brutal stick figure sketch.

Peter Dutton has ‘detoxified’ the Liberal Party

Peter Dutton has delivered a “kick in the balls” over Anthony Albanese’s $4 million cliff-top home in Copacabana in a brutal sledge on Perth radio.

The Liberal leader fired back at the Prime Minister’s depiction of him as a potato in Nova FM’s art segment by drawing a stick figurine depiction of Mr Albanese’s “retirement home”.

Back in September, Mr Albanese was asked by the radio hosts to draw a sketch of Mr Dutton and proceeded to depict him as a potato.

“We did a thing here where we did a challenge where one of us that was drawing, and that was Albo, was given a butcher’s paper pad, a texta, and then he was given a word, and then I had to stand behind him, and guess what he had drawn… the word was Peter Dutton. This is an original by Anthony Albanese, ready, and we got some butcher’s paper here for you to respond as well if you’d like to draw the Prime Minister,’’ host Nathan Morris said.

“That’s impressive, and that really sums up the PM’s total skill set there. He’s an overachiever. There’s a striking resemblance. And the big smile as well I like.”

Mr Dutton then sketched a stick figure depiction of the Prime Minister and his fiancee Jodie Haydon happily ensconced in a clifftop mansion with the words “To Albo, Happy retirement, Peter Dutton”

“This is Copacabana, the retirement home,’’ Mr Dutton said.

Host Nathan Morris praised the artwork as “polite” but brutal.

“You know what, polite but also kicks him in the balls!,’’ he said.

Is Dutton channelling Trump?

During the interview Mr Dutton also responded to claims he was channelling US President Donald Trump by slashing government spending and creating a government efficiency portfolio to be led by Jacinta Price.

“People work too hard for their money,’’ Mr Dutton said.

“When you pay your taxes, you want to know that it’s being spent efficiently. And people you know can draw the Trump comparison.

“My inspiration in public life has been John Howard, and I worked as assistant treasurer for Peter Costello way back, many years ago. And so efficiency and driving, you know, the best spend in every for every dollar is not something that President Trump’s come up with.

“And Jacinta Price, I think has done a fantastic job in her portfolio. So I don’t propose setting up a new department like President Trump’s done.

“I think it’s done in the Prime Minister and Cabinet, because you have a look across all the departments, and you can do it effectively from there. So look, there’s no silver bullet to it, but the Liberal Party always manages money more effectively. Many of us come from a small business background. We understand managing staff and managing money and getting the economy going, as we did through COVID. I mean, we helped a lot of families and small businesses stay afloat over that period. And there’s a lot of work to do if we win the election.”

Albo defends Copacabana purchase

Mr Albanese has described his purchase of a $4.3m mansion on the NSW Central Coast last year as not “a political decision”.

“Around about this time last year, on February 14, I proposed to Jodie,” he told Sky News in an interview aired on Sunday.

“I’ve met someone I want to spend the rest of my life with, and what happens when people make that decision, if they’re in a position to, they go and get a mortgage together.

“And it’s mortgaged, and I sold another property, a property that I had in order to assist with that, so that down the track … we can have somewhere close to where Jodie grew up, where Jodie’s parents and family all are.

“And it wasn’t a political decision. It was very much a personal one.”

At the time of the purchase, several senior Coalition MPs suggested the property purchase was a sign Mr Albanese was leaving politics.

He has repeatedly denied the claims.

But in his interview, he also said he thought people would understand his time in politics “will end”.

“We won’t be here in 20 years’ time,” Mr Albanese said.

“We will not spend our later years in the same house where Carmel and I, my first wife, the mother of my son - our son, Nathan - where we raised Nathan and where we lived as a family.

“Life is complex. People have real relationships that matter.

“I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have met Jodie, someone I want to spend the rest of my life with and we … have made this decision as well … to buy somewhere together for down the track.”
