Dominic Perrottet replicates John Howard in overseas cricket fail
Dominic Perrottet has emulated John Howard’s 2005 failed overseas bowling attempt while on a trip to India.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has attempted to show off his cricket “skills” while in Mumbai to open NSW’s new India trade office.
Footage showed Mr Perrottet running in to bowl, but his delivery went horribly wrong, bounced at his feet and shot straight up into the air rather than heading towards the batsman at the other end of the pitch.
Perrottet’s questionable bowling style has been compared to that of John Howard’s during a trip to Pakistan in 2005.
Then-Prime Minister Howard shocked the nation when he bowled in a similar fashion to Perrottet while visiting earthquake-ravaged Pakistan, blaming the ball for his disappointing delivery.
On social media, people were quick to compare Mr Perrottet’s effort to Mr Howard’s performance and even former prime minister Scott Morrison’s failed soccer attempt during the recent election campaign.
“At least he didn’t try to play soccer with kids,” one comment read.
“They make out they’re great at all these sports, but you see Scott Morrison bulldoze a kid and Dominic can’t even throw as good as he claimed,” read another.
Mr Perrottet is yet to comment on his own cricket style, but announced on Twitter that some of India’s top business leaders would visit NSW in October this year.
“India’s significance to NSW cannot be understated,” he tweeted.
“Two-way trade between India and NSW has now reached $4.6bn. We want that to grow. I’ve opened our NSW office in Mumbai, which will assist NSW businesses seeking trade and investment opportunities to access the lucrative Indian market.”
