Young boy reported ‘missing’ from school in northern Sydney

A large scale police search unfolded in northern Sydney this morning after a boy was reported missing, sparking frantic parents contacting his school.

Confusion surrounded a major police operation to find a young boy missing from school in northern Sydney this morning.

Frantic parents tried contacting Pennant Hills Public School after reports a boy, aged between five and seven, as last seen in his uniform about 9.10am.

Teachers spent the morning calling class role to figure out which child, if any was missing.

But that was not before the police helicopter, dog unit and order and riot squad were called in to search the area.

It is understood the boy was seen running from the grounds after missing the bus for the swimming carnival, and was driven to the event separately.

The search was called off about 1pm.
