Woman mysteriously disappears after Sydney Bunnings trip
A desperate search is under way to find a woman who mysteriously disappeared after a trip to Bunnings more than two weeks ago.
Police have renewed an appeal to find a woman who mysteriously vanished last month following a trip to a Sydney Bunnings store.
Kathleen Riethmuller, 28, was last seen on October 28, with CCTV footage capturing her at Bunnings in Artarmon at around 11.40am.
She was then sighted again at 2.30pm the same day in North Sydney, wearing a long-sleeved denim dress and black shoes.
Ms Riethmuller’s belongings were found inside a backpack on Centennial Ave, Lane Cove, after being located by a member of the public.
The backpack contained various items, including the 28-year-old’s mobile phone, identification documentation and bank cards.
The police were notified and immediately commenced an investigation into her whereabouts.
“Police now believe Kathleen may have travelled to Melbourne for employment opportunities,” NSW Police said in a statement.
She is also known to have frequented a unit on King Street, Sydney, and a backpacker’s accommodation on Sir John Young Crescent, Woolloomooloo in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.
Ms Riethmuller is described as being of caucasian appearance, about 165cm to 175cm tall, of thin build, with long dark hair.
It has now been more than two weeks since she was last seen.
“Police and family hold serious concerns for her welfare as she is not able to be contacted and has not been seen,” NSW Police said.
A Facebook page has been set up to help with the search for Ms Riethmuller, with the page stating her family is based in Brisbane and have been unable to go to Sydney due to Covid restrictions.
“It is possible that she is in need of medical assistance, family is based in BNE and due to Covid restrictions unable to be on foot in Sydney,” a post on the page said.
“We are hopeful that reaching out as far and wide as possible can assist in getting her home safely.”
Friends and family have also asked anyone with a dashcam who was in any of the areas where Ms Riethmuller was sighted between “11am-nightfall” to check their footage for anything that may help locate her.
Anyone who may have information about her whereabouts or has seen Ms Riethmuller are urged to contact Chatswood Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
