Urgent virus alert for Sydney trains as list of exposure sites balloons

NSW Health has issued a late night alert for additional exposure sites acrosss Sydney.

Anyone who travelled on the following services for more than 30 minutes is considered a close contact who must immediately isolate, get tested and remain in isolation for 14 days, regardless of the result.

Earlier a number of train lines in Sydney and on the Central Coast have been identified among the new Covid-19 exposure sites, taking the list of venues of concern to more than 100 named in less than 48 hours.

NSW recorded 239 new locally acquired cases of the virus in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday, at least 66 of whom were infectious while in the community, taking the number of active cases to more than 2500.

Greater Sydney residents are in their fifth week of what will be at least a nine-week lockdown.

NSW Health on Thursday afternoon issued an alert for 21 additional exposure sites, including the transport routes, after identifying 91 venues on Wednesday.

Anyone who travelled on the following services for more than 30 minutes is considered a close contact who must immediately isolate, get tested and remain in isolation for 14 days, regardless of the result.
