Two men are recovering in hospital after a brazen daylight shooting in Sydney.

At about 1:50pm a gunman opened fire in a barber shop, Adel’s Salon, in the inner-city suburb of Marrickville, hitting one man in the chest and another in the buttocks.

It’s understood both men, aged 33 and 20, are in a stable condition at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The shooting, which police believe may be linked to the assassination of underworld figure Alen Moradian in Bondi Junction 11 days ago, also occurred on the same road as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s electorate office.

Both men shot on Friday were known to police, while the shooter remains at large.

Police are also investigating as to whether two car fires, a silver Kia Stinger in Norwood Lane, Marrickville and a white Toyota Hilux in Herucles St, Dulwich Hill, were linked to the shooting.

Police are also looking for a third car believed to be linked to the shooting - a white Toyota Camry.

On Friday, Superintendent Despa Fitzgerald said police believed it was a targeted attack.

“It is very brazen and that’s why we believe it is obviously a targeted attack,” Superintendent Fitzgerald said.

“It’s not random and it is fortunate that no other member of the public was involved in that incident,” she said.

On Friday, the Prime Minister said he and his staff were all safe.

“My thoughts are with my community after a shooting in Marrickville across the road from my electorate office,” he said on social media.

One witness, who was in a pub on Marrickville Rd when the shooting occurred, told the DailyMail they were “s*** scared.”

On Saturday, NSW Police said there were no updates into the investigation.
