Cafe exposed for 10 days among new virus sites in NSW

NSW Health says anyone who attended a Sydney cafe during a 10-day period could have been exposed to Covid-19.

Greater Sydney faces harsher lockdown conditions

A cafe in Sydney’s southwest has been identified as a key venue of concern after staff and customers were potentially exposed to Covid-19 for 10 straight days.

It is among a string of cafes, shopping centres, medical centres and bus routes added to the expanding list of sites visited by people carrying the virus in the city.

Most of the new venues of concern are located in the southwest, which has become the epicentre of the virus’ spread through the community, but also stretch into the west, inner west and lower Blue Mountains.

Belmore’s The Raw Coffee Bar has been deemed a close contact site after a staff member worked there for 10 days straight between July 7 to 16.

Belmore Medical Centre, located on the same street, has also been identified as a key area of concern.

Ikea at Marsden Park has been listed as a new casual contact site.

There are also 10 bus routes considered to be close contact services centred around southwestern suburbs Smithfield, Wetherill Heights, Fairfield and Lakemba and inner west suburb Sydenham.

New casual contact sites include IGAs at Dulwich Hill, Kingsford and Wakeley, Kmart stores at Broadway and Roselands, a Coles at Fairfield and service stations in Cabramatta, Fairfield and Belmore.

It comes as NSW recorded 111 new local cases overnight and one death, with the state government imposing even harsher lockdown measures in a bid to quash the virus.

Earlier on Saturday health authorities identified a truck stop at an Ampol service station, near Murwillumbah on the state’s far north coast, as a potential exposure site.

It includes the truck drivers’ toilets, showers and lounge, as well as the food court.
