A 22-month-old child has died after they were hit by a car in a driveway in NSW’s Lake Macquarie area.

A toddler has died after being hit by a car in a driveway in NSW.

Emergency services were called to Rosemary Row in Rathmines just before 2.30pm on Monday after reports a toddler had been struck with a vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 22-month-old child, but they died at the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District have established a crime scene.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced,” police said in a statement.

A 38-year-old man has been taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
