Teen, 18, burns himself setting fire to his HSC notes
An 18-year-old man has been flown to hospital after receiving serious injuries setting fire to his HSC study notes.
A Sydney teenager been left with serious burns to his body after setting fire to his HSC notes.
The 18-year-old had to be flown to hospital after receiving multiple burns to his upper and lower body after torching “piles” of the school study notes at a semirural property in Sydney’s north-west.
Emergency services were called to the property in Arcadia on Thursday morning.
A CareFlight rescue helicopter treated the teen as other emergency services arrived at the scene.
He was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition and in “good spirits”.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Jenny Potter told The Sydney Morning Heraldthe teen added fuel to a bin and set it alight.
She said burning notes was not a wise way to celebrate.
HSC results were delivered to thousands of students across the state this morning.
