JUST a typical day at the Mehajer house. As police investigate footage of former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer allegedly yelling obscenities and threats at his estranged wife, he was forced to dodge the media pack waiting outside his Lidcombe home. Meanwhile, his sister Aiisha took the step of actually bringing them tea.

The NSW Police Force has announced they will investigate the foul-mouthed rant from Mr Mehajer, with officers from the Sydney Central command hoped to view the footage today and that “inquiries are ongoing”.

The video footage aired last night on Channel Nine’s A Current Affair program on the same day it emerged that Mr Mehajer had appointed a public relations adviser to promote his family — and just 24 hours after Mr Mehajer published a bizarre “motivational video” about himself, part of which mirrors ACA’s footage.

Nine’s ACA video showed Mr Mehajer furiously shouting at what appears to be his mobile phone.

“Aysha, you’ve got five minutes to call me,” he was shown screaming, followed by “Aysha, I hope you die, you sl*t ... I swear on the Koran, I swear to Allah”.

Mr Mehajer’s wife Aysha is allegedly estranged from her husband.

The ugly incident saw dozens of journalist camp outside the developer’s Lidcombe home today.

While Mr Mehajer dodged questions on the street today, his sister seemed a little more friendly

After running errands she reappeared with a pot and several cups of tea for the thirsty media pack..

Police applied for an AVO for Aysha Mehajer against her husband but the order was later relaxed and may be withdrawn at a hearing scheduled for next month.

In a statement Monday night, Mr Mehajer said: “Aysha is a beautiful, warm, amazing individual, whom I believe was betrayed, or set-up by someone who supplied A Current Affair with these out of context videos to make a sensationalised story.”

Mr Mehajer was sacked along with other Auburn councillors earlier this month as part of the Baird government’s local government mergers.

His extraordinarily lavish wedding last year brought intense media scrutiny on Mr Mehajer, his business dealings and family and attracted dozens of onlookers.

Bizarrely, the footage aired by ACA mirrors a short scene in Mr Mehajer’s new “motivational video”, titled “Dream”, in which he is shown sitting in his car angrily yelling into his mobile phone.

It emerged yesterday Mr Mehajer had appointed a public relations adviser, Lui Spedaliere, to handle media inquiries and promote his family.

Emails from the new spin merchant promote social media accounts belonging to Mr Mehajer and four of his family members, but notably not Aysha Mehajer.

Earlier, the reporter behind the story Alison Piotrowski, told Nine’s Today show that she was shocked at the footage.

“I’ve worked at A Current Affair for nearly eight years now and I’ve seen some very confronting stuff — some we’ve shown on camera, some we haven’t. And I do have to say, this is the most confronting video I’ve seen in my eight years on the show,” she revealed.

Mr Mehajer issued a lengthy statement on Monday via his publicity team.

It said he was disappointed in Ms Piotrowski’s statement on Today and suggested her story did not “hold any weight emotionally or seriously in the public forum against the ‘real’ current affair atrocities that headline today’s tabloids”.

It added: “No offence, Alison, you are a talented reporter who needs to spend more time getting shaken up by the ‘real’ stories that need ‘real’ awareness, not by an individual yelling into their personal phone camera.

“Which is the exact reason why I never took any requests to participate or be interviewed for that story seriously — because I don’t believe it’s classified as credible news.”
