Sydney teenager dies after car collides with pole
A teenage boy died after a car he was travelling in crashed into a pole in southwest Sydney overnight, and now police have asked the public to do one thing.
A 17-year-old boy has died in Sydney’s southwest after the car he was a passenger in crashed into a pole.
Emergency services were called to Hoxton Park Road in Hoxton Park about 3.30 on Sunday morning following reports about a white Toyota Camry.
The boy – who has yet to be formally identified – died at the scene.
The driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing and assessment.
Police are calling for anyone who may have dashcam footage to contact police.
The death of another young passenger comes just weeks after five teenagers were killed in a single-vehicle accident in Buxton – southwest of Sydney.
The group had been aged between 14 and 16, while the driver was 18.
He has been charged with five counts of dangerous driving occasioning death.
Already this year there have been at least 215 road deaths, more than 20 above the same period last year.
In the latest NSW government data set, passenger deaths are up 36 per cent from the same period last year.
