Huge list of virus exposure sites in Sydney, including Bondi and Darlinghurst

Sydney’s Parliament House has been exposed to coronavirus, while cafes in the Darlinghurst area have also been added as hot spot sites.

NSW COVID: More Sydney restrictions after 16 new cases announced

A cafe at Sydney Parliament House is one of multiple venues added to a list of coronavirus exposure sites across NSW.

The state’s health department announced the new sites on Thursday afternoon after another rise in Covid-19 cases, with 11 new infections recorded overnight.

Anyone who attended the following venues at the times listed was deemed a close contact and must immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

  • Darlinghurst; Frankie’s Beans Shop; 3/1 Kings Cross Road; on Monday June 21 between 10am and 11am and 1pm and 2pm.
  • Darlinghurst; Vinfafe Cafe; 1/150 Bourke Street; on Tuesday June 22 between 3.05pm and 3.45pm

Anyone who attended the Stranger’s Dining Room at Parliament House, 6 Macquarie Street, Sydney, between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesday, June 22 must also immediately get tested and self-isolate until further information from NSW Health was received.

The warning extended to anyone who attended Parliament House at any time on Tuesday, June 22 to “monitor for symptoms and if they appear, isolate and get tested until a negative result is received”.

The advice comes after a man in his 30s tested positive to Covid-19. He attended Christo’s Pizzeria in Paddington at the same time as a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster.

Anyone who attended Terry White Chemmart at Rouse Hill Town Centre in Rouse Hill on Monday June 21 between 11.05am and 11.15am was deemed a casual contact and must immediately get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received.

Earlier on Thursday an inner-city hair salon was added as an exposure site.

An alert issued Thursday morning said anyone who attended Crown Hair in Kings Cross on June 22 between 9am and 5pm is considered a close contact and must immediately contact NSW Health, get tested, and self-isolate for 14 days regardless of result.

NSW Health previously issued a late night alert on Wednesday for a number of businesses, including cafes, a Coles Express and BWS.

Those who dined in at the Tropicana Cafe in Darlinghurst on Friday, June 18, between noon and 2pm and Ikaria in Bondi on Sunday, June 20, between 5pm and 7pm are considered close contacts and must immediately call NSW Health, get tested and isolate for 14 days regardless of their test result.

The health department also added venues to its list of casual contacts, calling on people to get tested immediately and self-isolate until they get aa negative result.

Those venues include:

Bondi Junction: Coles Express at Shell Petrol Station, Friday, June 18, 7.15pm-7.45pm

Bondi Beach: Woolworths Metro Bondi Beach, Sunday, June 20, 1pm-1.30pm

Darlinghurst: Tropicana Cafe (Takeaway), Friday, June 18, noon-2pm

Mascot: BWS, Saturday, June 19, 5pm-5.30pm

Narellan: United Cinemas Narellan, Monday, June 21, 5.40pm-6pm

Meadowbank: TAFE NSW Meadowbank Campus (Building J), 8.40am-5.20pm

Sydney: 338 Pitt St (Anyone in the lobby or the lifts of this building), Monday, June 21, 8.30am-5.30pm

The latest alerts followed a range of warnings for busy bus routes, which were added to the fast-growing exposure sites list.

Anyone who travelled on the following bus routes at the times listed are considered a close contact. They must immediately call NSW Health on 1800 943 553, get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

• Parramatta to Pennant Hills: 600 Bus from O’Connell Street (outside Bankwest Stadium) to Pennant Hills Station, Sunday June 20 between 4.04pm and 4.50pm

• Parramatta to Rouse Hill: 665 Bus from Parramatta Station to Rouse Hill Station, Sunday June 20 between 7.30pm and 7.56pm

Anyone who attended the following venues at the times listed is also a close contact and must immediately call NSW Health on 1800 943 553, get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

• Wetherill Park: Nandos, Stockland Wetherill Park shopping centre, Sunday June 20 between 6pm and 7pm

• Surry Hills: Lumiere Cafe, Monday June 21 between 1pm and 2pm

• Redfern: Bamboo Thai, Monday June 21 between 6.15pm and 7.10pm

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday hailed the state’s contact tracing efforts, describing it as “better than I have ever seen”.

“But what we haven’t seen before is the contagiousness of this variant of the virus,” she warned.

“It is extremely contagious and the fleeting exchanges, not even physical touching, has meant people have transferred the virus.”
