Six-year-old boy found in neighbour’s pool after he was reported missing

A young boy has tragically been found in the pool of a nearby home shortly after he was reported missing.

Police were searching the area in Teralba – a suburb in Lake Macquarie area of NSW – following reports a six-year-old boy had gone missing about 3.15pm Thursday.

Shortly after, they located the body of an unresponsive child in the pool of a nearby property.

Officer attending the scene commenced CPR on the boy, with NSW Ambulance also called to the scene.

Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful.

NSW Police say the child is yet to be formally identified, however they believe the body is that of a six-year-old boy.

A crime scene has been established, with police commencing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
