Search called off for teen swimmer missing off NSW Coast
There’s been a devastating end to the search for a 19-year-old Sydney man praised as a hero for saving a member of his family.
Police have suspended the search for a teenager missing after helping a member of his family.
Khattab Abu Haish, 19, went missing in the surf off Congo Beach on the NSW South Coast after saving a member of his family who had gotten into trouble in the water.
He was caught in a rip and swept out to sea.
“Despite an extensive search of the water and surrounding land for the past two days, the 19-year-old man from Sydney has not been located, and the search was suspended at midday today,” NSW Police said in a statement.
More to come.
