Police seek AVO against Melissa Caddick’s husband Anthony Koletti on behalf of ASIC investigator
Police have sought an AVO against missing conwoman Melissa Caddick’s husband on behalf of an investigator looking into the case.
The husband of missing alleged conwoman Melissa Caddick has been slapped with an apprehended violence order application to protect an investigator looking into the case.
Police have sought an AVO against Anthony Koletti to protect Australian Securities and Investments Commission investigator Isabella Allen, court documents revealed.
Mr Koletti told The Australian he was “extremely shocked” by the application and said he had not spoken to Ms Allen for more than six months.
“I would say (applying for the order) that it’s just to villainise me to make their case look stronger,” he said.
“I think it’s just them once again throwing their weight around... They’re villainising my wife and now they villainising me.”
Ms Caddick, a well-to-do Sydney businesswoman, disappeared in November 2020 shortly after her home was raided by the Australian Federal Police as part of an ASIC investigation into her and her business.
She has not been seen since, although her decomposed foot, still encased in an Asics running shoe, was discovered on Bournda Beach near Tathra a year ago.
Liquidators are in the process of selling off her assets to reimburse investors who were allegedly tricked out of their money by Ms Caddick.
Two luxury cars – an Audi R8 Plus V10 and a Mercedes Benz CLA45 AMG – will be sold off at auction later this month, and there are plans to sell two properties belonging to Ms Caddick as well.
The properties includes the Dover Heights home where she was last seen.
Bruce Gleeson, principal at Jones Partners which is overseeing the liquidation, has previously told reporters that it appeared Ms Caddick had tricked investors into giving her money that she used to live an extravagant lifestyle.
She was “meticulous and systematic” in the way she “lured” investors into handing over money, sometimes their life savings, he said in February 2021.
The AVO application will be heard at Sydney Downing Centre on February 23.
