Police charge man accused of kicking dog’s teeth out
A man has been charged following an investigation by police into allegations of animal cruelty and malicious damage in the Sydney CBD on Tuesday night.
Police charged a man who allegedly kicked a woman’s dog in the face in Sydney’s CBD on Tuesday night.
The woman was walking her two dogs, Sootie and Timmy, at about 10pm in the Rocks area when she sat on a bench on the corner of Argyle St and Kent St.
The woman’s dogs rushed towards the dog of a man before the man intervened.
Sootie growled back at the dog, prompting the man to allegedly kick the woman’s pet in the face.
The kick knocked Sootie’s front row of teeth out.
He allegedly grabbed the woman’s phone and threw it on the ground, stomping on it before walking away.
There was a confrontation between the pair, with the man allegedly grabbing the woman’s phone, throwing it on the ground and stomping on it before walking off.
The woman reported the act of animal cruelty to The Rocks Police Station.
Following the release of an image, about 6.30pm on Wednesday, a 63-year-old man was arrested on Kent St, Millers Point.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with malicious damage and offensive behaviour.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 8 January 2020.
Police have been told the injured dog, Sootie, is expected to make a full recovery.
