Police probe crash near Wagga Wagga after passenger, 19, dies

Paramedics rushed to treat a teenager after the car he was travelling in was involved in a horror crash – but the young man’s life could not be saved.

A young man has died following a crash near Wagga Wagga at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Holbrook Rd in Gelston Park – about 16km south of Wagga Wagga – at 8.30pm on Saturday following reports of a collision.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed a Nissan X-Trail and VW Golf had collided.

The passenger in the VW Golf – a 19-year-old man – was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The drivers of the Golf and the Nissan – a 17-year-old boy and a 46-year-old man respectively – were also treated before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in stable conditions.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
