Police hold ‘serious concerns’ for daughter of ex-NRL referee Gavin Badger

Police are calling for public assistance to locate ex-NRL referee Gavin Badger’s daughter Shante, who vanished last week.

Police are urging the public for assistance to find former NRL referee Gavin Badger’s daughter Shante, who disappeared from Sydney last week.

Shante Badger, 32, was last seen in Wentworth Point about 8.15am on Friday.

A NSW police spokesperson said police and family held “serious concerns” for Ms Badger’s safety and wellbeing.

“When she could not be located or contacted, police were notified (on Tuesday), where officers from Auburn Police Area Command have commenced inquiries into her whereabouts,” they said.

Ms Badger is known to frequent the Wentworth Point and Botany areas.

Police said it was not known what the young mother of two may be wearing; however, she is described as being of caucasian appearance, a solid build, 155cm tall with long red hair.

Ms Badger’s stepmother Kasey posted the police statement to her Instagram story on Wednesday morning, urging the public for help.

“If anyone has any information can you please get in touch,” she wrote alongside a praying hands emoji.

Ms Badger is the daughter of former rugby league referee Gavin Badger, who controlled more than 300 NRL matches before hanging up the boots in 2020.

Badger’s wife Kasey, whom he met in 2007 before marrying in 2010, is also a referee and was the first woman to officiate a match in the men’s Rugby League World Cup.

Anyone with information into Ms Badger’s whereabouts is urged to contact Auburn Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
