Woman, 63, dies at Sydney’s Shelly Beach during diving incident

Emergency services were called to the popular beach after a woman was pulled from the water unresponsive during a diving incident.

A 63-year-old woman has died in a suspected diving incident at a popular beach in Sydney.

Emergency services were called following reports of a concern for welfare at Shelly Beach in Manly shortly after 10am on Friday.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said officers were told a woman was found unresponsive in the water.

“She was treated by NSW Ambulance, however, she died at the scene,” the spokeswoman said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The beach is a popular sport for swimming and snorkelling, with many companies operating scuba diving training and activities at the beach.
