Man pulled from water at Sydney’s urban surf pool

The park’s management have issued a statement after a man was rushed to hospital after being pulled from the water.

A recently opened urban surf park was temporarily closed after a man was pulled from the water and rushed to hospital.

Emergency crews were called to URBNSURF at Sydney Olympic Park just before 12pm on Wednesday after a man in his 50s was found in the water.

A statement from the park’s management said it is believed the guest suffered “what is believed to be a medical episode on site”.

“The URBNSURF team responded to provide support and care for the guest before paramedics arrived,” the statement said.

“Our main priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff and our thoughts are with them at this time.

“The park will remain closed until further notice.”

The $50m simulated surf park opened in April 2024 to high anticipation and is monitored by lifeguards.

Earlier this month, Penrith Panthers star Jarome Luai required rescuing after he became stranded in deep water during a State of Origin recovery session.

The incident required a lifeguard to throw a floating device into the pool, before they pulled the NSW five-eighth out of the water.
