Man hospitalised following dog attack

A man suffered serious injuries to his chest after being attacked by the dog in Sydney.

A man has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a dog in Sydney.

Paramedics “arrived to quite a chaotic scene” at Florida Street in Sylvania about

9.30am on Thursday, NSW Ambulance Inspector Jason Rutherford.

“Thankfully the dog had been restrained,” he said.

“We treated a man who had received a deep laceration with a puncture point on the right side of his chest.

“Our Medical Specialist Team were able to complete an ultrasound on his chest to determine the extent of his injuries.”

The man was rushed to hospital with dog bite injuries to his upper chest.

The man, understood to be aged in his 40s, was taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

The breed of dog involved in the attack isn’t known at this stage, nor are the circumstances leading up to the attack.

Sutherland Shire Council, which encompasses Sylvania, have detained the dog, reportedly an American Staffordshire Terrier.

Council is investigating the incident.
