Man dies after falling from cliff, going into cardiac arrest at Sydney’s Coogee Beach

A 20-year-old man has died after falling from a cliff at a popular Sydney beach and going into cardiac arrest.

A 20-year-old man has died after falling from a cliff at Sydney’s popular Coogee Beach and going into cardiac arrest.

Multiple paramedic crews including a rescue helicopter rushed to Dunningham Reserve after receiving reports about 3pm the man had fallen 25m onto rocks.

A critical care medical team was winched down to the man, who had suffered critical head and chest injuries, and was found to be having a heart attack.

Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

“Our thoughts go out to the friends and family after this horrible accident,” NSW Ambulance inspector Lucky Phrachanh said.

“Please avoid these high cliff top areas - tragedies can occur in a split second.

“A massive thanks to the bystanders, NSW Police and the Surf Life Saving team for your assistance at this complex scene.”

NSW Police said a report would be prepared for the coroner.
