Man arrested after alleged sex act on NSW train
Footage of a man being escorted off a NSW train has gone viral after he was allegedly caught performing an X-rated act in the carriage.
A now-viral video has captured the moment a man was escorted off a NSW train by police after allegedly being caught performing a sex act in one of the carriages.
Footage of the alleged incident, which occurred in June, was recently posted to TikTok by user Billy Burner.
The video, which has amassed more than 1.4 million views, was uploaded with the caption: “Man caught masturbating on Sydney train”.
At about 10.20am on June 29, a 20-year-old man boarded a train at Newcastle that was travelling to Sydney.
A NSW Police spokesperson told news.com.au he was allegedly observed by passengers exposing himself and committing a sexual act.
“Police were notified and officers from Gosford Police Transport Command boarded the train at Gosford Railway Station,” NSW Police said.
The video shows a police officer speaking to the man while he gathers his belongings, a backpack and a box, in order to exit the train.
“Committing a sexual act on a train,” the person filming the video says as the man walks off.
The police officer then realises the man has left his belt on the seat.
“Is this your belt man?” the officer asks. “You took your belt off.”
The person filming adds: “He took his belt off and all.”
As the man comes back down the stairs to grab his belt, the person filming points out his fly is also undone.
“And you have got your fly undone man,” the police officer says. “Can you do up your fly for me?”
The 20-year-old man was arrested and taken to Woy Woy Police Station where he was charged with wilful and obscene exposure in a public place and behaving in an offensive manner in a public passenger vehicle.
He appeared at Gosford Local Court on July 14.
The video has attracted thousands of comments, with people shocked by the alleged incident.
“That’s just messed up on every level! Sucked in to him!” one person said.
One person branded the situation “embarrassing”, while another called it “disgusting”.
“I am so grateful I’ve never witnessed this,” another said.
Other commenters claimed they had witnessed people performing sex acts on public transport in the past.
“I’ve seen someone doing that on the train. I don’t take late night trains anymore,” one wrote.
“This happened to me once. Some guy alone in a carriage with me, took his pants off, stared at me & went for gold. Never been on the train ever since,” another added.
Under NSW law, wilfully and obscenely exposing yourself in a public place can result in a maximum fine of $1100 or six months imprisonment.
Behaving in an offensive manner in a public passenger vehicle can also result in a fine of up to $1100.
