An infant boy is critical in hospital after falling 2.5m from a window at a home in Baulkham Hills onto concrete and sustaining a serious head injury on Sunday.

NSW Ambulance paramedics provided initial treatment to the boy, who was knocked unconscious from the impact.

The Mounties Care CareFlight Helicopter was then tasked by NSW Ambulance at around 10.30am, and paramedics transported the boy to Gooden Reserve to meet CareFlight’s clinical team.

The helicopter landed within five minutes of takeoff.

The infant was intubated and placed in an induced coma to stabilise him.

The boy was then taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition for suspected head and facial injuries.

“The bystanders and neighbours went above and beyond helping the patient before emergency services arrived on scene,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Greg Marshall said.

“It’s so important to keep an eye on our children at all times. It only takes a split second for tragic accidents like this to occur.”
