Incredible NSW vaccination rates set to crown the state the quickest in the world for vaccinating its population
Consistent supply of Covid-19 vaccines is set to soon see NSW crowned the quickest in the world to vaccinate its population.
NSW may be getting further off track in its goal to quash the Delta variant, but it’s very much on the right path to coming out best in a vaccination race.
Residents are getting vaccinated at rates that match the fastest countries in the world and if current levels continue, NSW will soon have the quickest vaccination rates in the world.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced on Thursday that 52 per cent of the NSW population had received one dose of the vaccine, while 28 per cent were fully vaccinated.
“We want to see these numbers climb as quickly as possible. Thank you to everyone coming forward to get vaccinated,” she told reporters.
With about 1.2 per cent of the NSW population getting vaccinated daily, if rates continue to increase to 1.5 per cent, the state will have the fastest rates in the world.
Trackers have estimated consistent vaccination rates will have NSW reach its goal to have 70 per cent of its population, aged over 16, fully vaccinated by October 28.
Based on data collected from a seven-day rolling average, the 80 per cent goal would then be reached by November 14.
Ms Berejiklian has foreshadowed more freedoms for residents once these milestones are reached, however has remained tight lipped on what that would actually look like.
NSW is now vaccinating as fast as the fastest nations in the world ever, averaging about 1.2% of the whole population per day and rising. If we maintain yesterday's numbers we'll be the fastest in the world at 1.5%. Remarkable.

“I want to remind the people of this state that once we get to the end of October we expect 70 per cent of the population to be fully vaccinated. Once we get to mid-November we expect 80 per cent of the population to be fully vaccinated,” she said.
“It gives enormous opportunities for greater freedoms than we do today. I want to encourage anybody between 16 and 39 who live in the local government areas of concern throughout western Sydney and South Western Sydney, please come forward and get vaccinated.”
In the 24 hours before August 18, 42,301 vaccinations were received in NSW, with 5,474,556 total doses administered since February 22.
An interactive map launched by NSW Health has allowed users to search vaccination rates of their suburbs and compare it with others.
The fastest uptake has been in areas across Western Sydney, where more than 80 per cent of the population has received at least one jab in several suburbs.
