Iconic Bondi Icebergs swimming pool shut by Covid
Australia’s most famous swimming pool and a Sydney icon will remain closed until after Christmas following a Covid scare.
The iconic Bondi Icebergs swimming pool will remain closed until at least until December 26 after staff were exposed to Covid by a visitor who later tested positive.
The Icebergs clubhouse that overlooks the pool will remain open; however, those who attended the club at the same time as the infected person are advised to get tested.
“We have been notified of a positive Covid case who attended the club on Sunday 19th December from 2pm-6.30pm,” the club said in a statement.
“We advise patrons to follow NSW advice and monitor for symptoms and get tested.”
The swimming pool has been a landmark for more than 100 years as well as claiming international renown for its location overlooking the world-famous Bondi Beach.
NSW recorded another jump in Covid cases on Wednesday, with 3763 new infections and 302 people in hospital, with 40 requiring intensive care.
“NSW Health continues to remind everyone to practise Covid-safe behaviours, including recommending people wear a mask in settings where they cannot physically distance,” NSW Health said in a statement.
“Get tested and stay home if you have the mildest of symptoms. Do not visit family, friends or go to social events if you are unwell.”
