Fuming bystander hijacks NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s presser to spruik concerns about Palestine
A passionate protester interrupted the NSW Premier’s press conference to demand the Liberals ‘be kicked out of government’ over this issue.
An angry bystander has sensationally interrupted the NSW Premier’s press conference to spruik concerns about what is happening in Palestine and to advocate for refugees.
Gladys Berejiklian looked noticeably uncomfortable when she was interrupted mid-sentence by a woman screaming: “Stop the Israelis’ bombing of Gaza.”
To which the premier noted, “Unfortunately I don’t control foreign affairs.”
“Sorry what was I saying?” she asked the reporter.
Ms Berejiklian tried to pick up where she left off before the woman interrupted again.
“They’re just pretending to care about human rights … release all the refugees,” the woman said before noting the number of people in Australian detention centres is “disgraceful” and demanding the Liberals “be kicked out of government”.
Clearly rattled, the Premier asked the reporter to ask the question again.
“Third time lucky,” she said.
Ms Berejiklian was addressing the media to provide the latest on the state’s vaccine rollout.
The state government is accelerating the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine by establishing 25 hubs – 17 of which are in regional NSW – dedicated to administering the jab.
About 23,500 people aged between 40 and 49 have already been invited to book a vaccine appointment at a NSW Health clinic, with 12,000 people already locked in to receive the Pfizer jab.
“I want to thank the more than 120,000 people aged 40 to 49 who have already registered their interest to receive the Pfizer jab. We are working hard to ensure you receive the vaccine as soon as possible,” she said.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the health department had worked hard to expand its Pfizer footprint across NSW.
