A 51-year-old firefighter has lost his life while trying to put out a house fire in Sydney’s north.

A firefighter has been killed while battling a blaze in Sydney’s north.

The 51-year-old firefighter was one of the first crews to respond to a house fire in Grose Vale just before 8am on Tuesday morning.

Other fire crews performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived, where they pronounced him dead at the scene.

It’s now been revealed that the fire took place at a ritzy Airbnb described as an “entertainer’s haven” that includes a tennis court, saltwater pool and fire pit. 

The seven bedroom, five bathroom home can fit more than 16 guests for $1360 per night.

“Discover a luxurious retreat at our exquisite holiday home in Grose Vale, set on 15+ acres of scenic land,” the listing reads.

‘Enjoy amenities such as a gym, pool table, table tennis, and Mahjong.

“Ideal for family gatherings or small groups of friends seeking a memorable escape.

Airbnb no longer allows customers to book the property after the fire.

“Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is working with other authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and also provide support to the man’s family, his crew, and the others impacted by this tragedy,” a FRNSW spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our condolences are with the firefighter’s family, friends and colleagues at this tragic time.”

A second patient has been taken to the Hawkesbury District Health Service for treatment.

It is not yet known whether they are a firefighter or a person staying at the house.

Police have established a crime scene at the home and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.
