Tough lockdown measures in Central West NSW will be lifted as planned from Wednesday morning.

NSW Health announced the local government areas of Orange, Blayney and Cabonne would be freed from stay-at-home orders at 12.01am on Wednesday.

The regions will return to the same restrictions as the rest of regional NSW.

“There has been no further transmission of Covid-19 detected in the region since the case notified on July 20,” NSW Health said in a statement.

“As there has been a case recently in the community, and the ongoing outbreak continues across Sydney, it is vital people in these communities and throughout NSW continue to come forward for testing at the first sign of even mild symptoms.”

The three Central West regions were plunged into lockdown after the highly infectious Delta strain escaped from Sydney last week.

A pet food delivery driver from Sydney infected an Orange resident, who then visited five shops and venues in the regional city.

The driver travelled to the region over several days, visiting the Nestle Purina factory at Blayney, with health officials confirming he had infected a factory worker there.

The delivery driver also visited a BP truck stop at Raglan and a depot at Parkes every day from July 13 to July 16.

The three council areas were the first regional areas to go into lockdown due to the Sydney outbreak.
