Community rocked by boy’s sudden death after lawnmower accident
The three-year-old boy died in hospital after he was struck by a ride-on lawnmower, leaving his loved ones grieving his sudden loss.
Tributes from a small community on the NSW south coast to a three-year-old boy who died after he was run over by a ride-on lawnmower are flooding in.
South coast police were called to the Pambula District Hospital just after 12.30pm on Saturday after a child was brought in with severe injuries.
A three-year-old child, who police say was “reportedly struck by a ride-on lawnmower”, was treated at the hospital but could not be saved.
He has since been identified as Maddox.
“An unimaginable tragedy,” a local wrote on Facebook.
“Maddox, your sweet smile will be missed by so many.”
A Go Fund Me has been created by a friend of the family and has already raised almost $4000 of it’s $20,000 goal to cover the cost of the funeral and grief counselling.
“This is a very difficult time for the family and they were not prepared for the sudden passing of Maddox or the high cost of a funeral,” the creator Jess said.
Maddox has been remembered as “energetic and happy toddler whose life was tragically cut short”.
“Despite the short time Maddox was given he made a huge impression on everyone he met and truly was his parents’ little angel,” Jess said.
The youngest of three children used to love painting his nails with his two big sisters aged 5 and 9, and funeral attendees are being asked to wear something blue and paint their nails.
Inquiries into the death continue and officers have established crime scenes at the hospital as well as in South Pambula.
