Boy, 11, dies after getting caught in rip on NSW south coast

The boy was swimming at Murramarang Beach, north of Batemans Bay, when he got caught in a rip.

An 11-year-old boy has died after being pulled from the water at a beach on the New South Wales south coast.

The boy was swimming at Murramarang Beach, north of Batemans Bay, when he got caught in a rip.

Emergency services were called at 1.20pm and he was brought to shore at 2.30pm.

The boy was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital in a critical condition and could not be saved.

South Coast Police District is investigating.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
