‘Bloody oath’: Berridale man in disbelief after $1.2m jackpot win
A man has become delirious after learning he won a multimillion-dollar jackpot in the lottery, expressing his disbelief with two choice words.
A man from a small town in the Snowy River region has become $1.2m richer after claiming the top prize in Saturday’s Lotto.
The Berridale man was one of four division one winning entries for the Saturday Lotto draw 4561 on April 5, including one in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, with each winner pocketing $1.2m.
The winning numbers on Saturday Lotto draw 4561 were 3, 42, 43, 10, 27 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 18.
The Lott spokesman said the NSW man was in so much shock at the news of his winnings he wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry.
“No way! Bloody oath!” he said in the call to The Lott official.
While the man said he was “about to faint” at the thought of pocketing the millions, which he won with a 15-game QuickPick.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said.
“I’ll be able to pay off the mortgage. Then I can relax a bit and take it easy.”
The man explained he had been taking part in the weekly lotto for more than a decade, and had been “dreaming about this day”.
“I can’t believe it,” he said. “It’s going to help so much.
“I don’t know whether to laugh or cry! I’m just in shock.”
Despite pocketing the jackpot, he didn’t have plans to take the day off.
“I’ve been playing for around 10 years or more. I never really win more than $30 or enough for my next ticket, so this is awesome,” he said.
“I’ve still got to head to work today, but I’ll definitely be celebrating with family when I can.”
